Interestingly and coincidentally The Basement Tapes is one of four Dylan CDs -the others being New Morning, Before the Flood and Dylan and the Dead – which, according to many sites, including Amazon, are to be re-issued in remastered versions before the end of this month.

Ths is, indeed, the ‘bulk of the original songs’…most of those not listed above, but available in the various Basement Tapes collections, are either tradition or have been written by someone other han The Band / Dylan- ie, they’re NOT ‘originals’…

I look forward to this one very much but dozens – at least five CDs worth – of songs were recorded at the Basement Tapes sessions so how can this release “feature the bulk of the original songs that were recorded?”
