Two interesting releases are set for next week.  Eric Clapton Four Piece Warm-Ups (Beano-029) is a four disc set containing two shows:  Sheffield on January 16th, 1989 and Newcastle Upon Tyne on January 17th, 1989.  Both are supposed to be amazing sounding tapes.

Rainbow Monsters Of Rock 1980 Definitive Edition (Darker Than Blue 074/075/076) is a massive set with three discs, two audio and one video of Rainbow’s legendary appearance at the Donnington Festival on August 16th, 1980.

Does anybody know whether this new Rainbow brings any newly discovered recording? Last year (or maybe early this year) Power Gate released the same set whith almost identical artwork and same DVD. while the contains only a portion of the show with good video and audio quality, the audio on the CDs was awful. Too many people talking around the taper who seemed to be right in the middle of the crowd. The performance is great but I doubt it is worth tracking down, unless it is something new.
