Coming out next week is Eric Clapton Any Lengths (no label). This is a 2CD title with the new years eve show from the Woking Leisure Center, Woking, Surrey, England sourced from a DAT audience recording. Rainbow Heavy Rock (Rising Arrow-041) covers the January 21st, 1978 Budokan show.
Deep Purple Croydon Tapes (Darker Than Blue 102/103) contains the Fairfield Hall, Croydon, London, show on November 22nd, 1970 with bonus tracks “Paint It Black” and “Mandrake Root” from the June 1st 1970 show in Dusseldorf. Listening carefully to the crowd, this certainly appears to be a 3rd source: sadly, I place it below the other two. The drums are well down in any ensemble playing, the bass is generally an undertone, and the audience is very ‘clappy’, which is distracting as it is very much to the fore. The lists described it as ‘Truly perfect sound’. Yeah: I wish. :( Sorry the comment area are closed |
