Tarantura have released Rainbow The Closing Night (TCDNIJIFUNE-10-1, 2) containing the December 16th, 1976 Budokan show. This was the final night of Rainbow’s first tour of Japan. Tarantura have also issued a nifty looking miniature carrying case to house the ten nights from the tour all “Live Recorded by Mr. Terry ‘The Greatest’ Peach.” The case is limited to 200 numbered copies.

Having a box designed like a guitar case to hold all ten titles is artistic genius, and wonderful for collectors who have been following this landmark string of releases. And I’m certain that The Closing Night will be yet another stunning concert recording. Expect a CMR review of this entire production in the near future. I bought this as a Christmas present to myself and its a lovely piece to own, as you say a fitting conclusion to these supberb releases. The Tarantura presentation of these Rainbow shows has really revitalised by interest in collecting live music after a few years in the doldrums perpetuated by endless re-releases.
