Conozca A The Beatles! (Mexican Stereo LP – Capitol)(DBM-056)
(26:54): La Vi Alla, Quiero Estrechar Tu Mano, Ella Te Ama, Seras Mia, De Me Para Ti, Gracias Niña, Quiero Ser Tu Hombre, No Otra Vez, No Me Molestes, Pequeño Niño, Abrazame Fuerte, Este Muchacho
Since Mexico is part of North America, Capitol Records USA (whose role it was to oversee Beatles releases in North America) was able to dictate how their records were marketed in Mexico. However, prior to 1965, Capitol had no record company offices in Mexico and therefore licensed its releases to the Musart label, a prominent Mexican record label. All Mexican LP’s on the Musart label are somewhat scarce, most appearing in covers that are unique to Mexico. Dr. Ebbetts first released their transfers of the Mexican albums in 2003 and the silver Dr. Ebbetts just issued the first four.
The album is most similar to the USA version but has a strange mixture of both mono and stereo tracks. All of the other Meet The Beatles editions start with “I Want To Hold Your Hand” but this begins with “I Saw Her Standing There.” Although this doesn’t really have anything particularly rare, it is an excellent transfer of a scarce album for the obsessive Beatle collector. If you liked this review, buy me a cup of joe.
