Magical Mystery Tour (US Mono LP – Capitol) (2005 Upgrade) MAL 2835 and Magical Mystery Tour (US Stereo LP – Capitol) SMAL 2835 have been previously released by Dr. Ebbetts. DBM-030A offers a primarily clean transfer with some minor flaws. The vocals are bright and at times even piercing on “Strawberry Fields Forever”. The sonic fidelity varies between some of the tracks. The bass rumbles on “Baby You’re A Rich Man” with Lennon’s vocals sounding a bit bright. The vocals blare somewhat on “All You Need Is Love”.

DBM-030B has Harrison’s vocals blaring on “Blue Jay Way”. McCartney’s vocals sound bright on “Penny Lane”. Lennon’s vocals are thin sounding on “Baby You’re A Rich Man”.  Surprisingly, the gain is solid on DBM-030A compared to DBM-030B. The stereo separation is clean on the latter. I find myself still preferring DBM-030A considering that is has a few more flaws. Both titles reveal various brief “hidden” musical passages that serve to enhance this release due to the mastering.
