Beano returns with some new Clapton titles. This show is a superb audience with exceptional sound quality; the clarity highly noteworthy, along with an outstanding performance.
The show begins with a blast from the old Creamery,White Room with the band in full flow and Eric kicking it out with some outstanding wah-wah licks. Pretending follows suite with blistering guitar and superb rhythm, led by Nathan East’s excellent bass lines. The exceedingly rarely played Anything For Your Love is the next track with some very emotional vocals overlaid by the band’s drone spunned rhythm making this one of the highlights of the evening.
I Shot the Sheriff is the following tune with some superb guitar and a dynamite rhythm section, spearheaded by Nathan East and Steve Ferrone a very powerful drummer, vastly under-appreciated. Running on Faith is a very pleasant piece with Eric hitting some very fiery notes. She’s Waiting is so powerful the band taking it up a notch higher with the backup singers Katie Kasson and Gina Porter providing excellent harmonies.
Tears In Heaven is a slow tribute to Eric’s son Conor who passed away during a horrible fall from a NYC apartment window. Before You Accuse Me brings Nathan East’s bass up top along with Chuck Leavell’s pleasant piano work. Old Love ends side one with some outstanding bending of notes.
Disc two begins with Badge with Eric hitting some very polished licks blending in with Chuck’s keyboard, an outstanding version here, although my heart really prefers the 1978 shows Santa Monica,Detroit shows where he and George Terry swapped blistering licks.
Wonderful Tonight is quite a lovely performance this evening with Eric hitting some sweet notes and the girls performing admirably.
Layla opens up smoking hot with the audience responding accordingly; a very high grade of Layla here. A twelve bar blues rhythm is next; leading to the introduction of the band as each member hits a quick solo. Crossroads follows with a very funky get up and dance beginning to it; ending with some precise hot licks.
This show ends with Sunshine of Your Love, powerful bass lines by Nathan East and some passionate licks by Eric. This show has such wonderful sound quality as well as a superlative performance it NEEDS to be picked up!! Beano rocked hard on this one; the only drawback is a few (very few) times the people next to the taper jack their jaws a bit much.If you liked this review, buy me a cup of joe. (Suggested: $3 a shot or $7.5 for a double)
