I didn't mean to give the impression these are poor quality tapes. They are very nice sounding. I've noticed in the past year that live Dylan tapes are very bass heavy and rumbly. That is not a bad quality, but certainly different than I'm used to.

I actually think the 4CD La set is in better sound quality than how they were reviewed. I think it's a great set, documenting Charlie's return that gave a vitamin B shot to the entire ensamble. I attended the LA shows, and think TMR has done a faithful translation of the Palladium gigs. And there's a ton of music on each disc. I like the set very much, but, of course, it's a subjective topic.

Well, once again my opinion differs on the quality of the recording for this latest TMR release. I find them to be a bit distant and muffled. I agree about the 18th. It is the best sounding and performance of the set as well. I also think the performance of Dylan and the band is bit tired on disc two, the 14th. It even sounds this way in my car. Now I run my CD player straight into a Marantz Intergrated Amp, to my speakers so there's nothing to damper the sound. But I am also having some very strange problems with discs 1&4. For some reason they just cause my amp to turn off. Happened twice, with each. But they play fine in my car.
