Nice recording but the Oakland shows really are not very good 1977 tour performances. Jimmy's playing is a trainwreck, lots of bum notes and losing his place during songs and the atmosphere was very tense with the violence against Billy Graham's employee and possible arrest hanging over Bonzo's head. Interesting as a part of Zep history but not one I would listen to very often....

I have heard that Japanese magazine "Boot Poisoning" critisized this title of being less complete than Image Quality's "It's Been Great". I am curious which version of the IQ title they listened to. I doubt the one we all know since TCOLZ is much more complete in every aspect. A big shame for our Japanese friends...

From what I have as low gens, "A Fighting Finish" is simply source no. 1 and is the best amongst all three but other two are just a touch worse if even. They have justa different perspective. All three are really enjoyable. I hope TCOLZ will release them soon on silvers.

How do this other 2 sources compare to the one used on SIRA"S A FIGHTING FINISH? I listened to FF the other day and was pleasantly surprised as I hadn't heard it in a long time. It sounds clear and "fresh". In fact it could be one of my faves from 77 although 77 isn't really my favorite tour.

I think it should be added that TCOLZ runs at the proper speed while IQ slows a hair and low gen runs fast as it comes for the first source. I hope the label will issue part 2 very soon with all 3 sources available amongst them 2nd is the rarest since it was immortalized by only one silver label, Missing Link under the title "The Final Ever In The States" and the 3rd source, while rather commonly circulated amongst the collectors, it still waiting for its silver debut too.
