EVSD releases tend to follow a pattern. Original release is usually pretty expensive to recoup outlay costs. 6 months to a year later they re-release under their horrible TMQ packaging c/w a flimsy insert listing the tracks. Whether TMQ releases sell well I've no idea, but I guess they must have pretty good sales as this has been their business model for some time now. Just wish they'd do something about their packaging to make their releases more attractive.

The EV release is great - the outer artwork is a bit lame but the inner is cool - not that it matters. The sound is quite good - expect to pay if you want one. On the other hand I have many Eelgrass releases and they copy the EV very well - a very good option.

The folks at the Empress Valley store must primarily cater to Japanese collectors. Much of what they do doesn't make sound business sense..... Why not release these soundboards only in jewel cases and price the sets at what the eelgrass releases are going for (the non label people should design the jewel case cover art). In my opinion, the packaging of the last few EV soundboards has been disappointing. I prefer the eelgrass cover art. I own the 3 CD version of Snowblind on Empress Valley. The cover art is ugly, but the music is AWESOME! I should have waited for the eelgrass release. It looks very nice and the music is still AWESOME!

I think the main problem with the EV release is the build quality. If they had housed the discs in more substantial cardboard, it would have been attractive enough.
I sympathise with EVs plight; maybe one of the reasons these soundboard releases are slowing down is because the revenue they get from their new releases is diminishing because of rival labels 'gazumping' their product.
In the long run the fans will suffer if it becomes uneconomic for outfits such as EV to purchase LZ recordings.
This is why it is important for EV to release attractive AND substantial packaging, which will result in their product being as sought after as Taranturas, and for collectors to support these efforts

Without stoking the fires too much then I'll only echo the comment about the horrible and disappointingly cheap packaging of the (3CD) EV version....missed an opportunity to nail a killer new release although also I agree credit where it's due for being there first. There's something for us all here however and I welcome the choice Eelgrass provides.

I Love Eelgrass! Probably the only way I could own most of the Zeppelin Soundboards in my collection. They are consistent in their quality of sound and pckaging. Making good quality boots available to anyone!! Right On!

Why do you say I don't like Empress Valley? But you're right. This is a copy of the EV release. One that is affordable for a majority of collectors.

And, I assure the readers, this page will not turn into a protracted debate about the label.

You may not like them but at least give empress valley credit for releasing this and the other 75 SB's. They are responsible for most of the unreleased LZ material in the last 10 years after all. This is nothing but a copy of their release.
