I suppose the best way to look at this Knebworth show is how it's similar to others from 1974-75; the newer material is typically the weakest, they pull it together a bit more for "Dark Side," and knock it out of the park with "Echoes" - which makes sense considering how long each had been part of the repertoire. Of course, there were nights they were absolutely on fire throughout, the evidence being a few truly amazing documents from this era, and I agree, Floyd at the worst is still better than others at their best - but, like I said, Knebworth, though more listenable now, still is only of interest to Floyd fanatics and musicologists. Thanks again for your support, and your own contributions.

I'd like to thank Plomerus very much as well for another great, very thorough review. I'd also like to thank very much other great P. Floyd reviewers here as well, such as WGPSEC & gsparaco - certainly hope that I didn't forget anyone, as I would be very sorry if I did.

Anyway, if I happen to be the one Plomerus referred to when mentioning waiting for more insight from another contributor here, actually, I don't download or torrent myself either. I just simply pay attention to anything new starting to circulate to know what to possibly expect what could be released by the great Sigma or any other active Floyd commercial labels. Or, if not eventually released by them, then at least I'll know what I might want to seek (out) via postal snail-mail CD-R trading.

As for this Knebworth show in particular, I have an old CD-R copy of just the "Dark Side" part of "Trouble in Knebworth Remastered", which is supposedly a slight upgrade of the regular, older "Trouble in Knebworth". Maybe I should have my ears checked, as I've often suspected, but personally to me the sound quality of it (the CD-R copy) is pretty decent - a slightly above-average audience recording. As for the quality of the performance, a cyber-friend of mine, "tmoq", agrees that it's one of the very worst performances by Floyd that he knows of. As for myself personally, I admit that it's not one of the best live "Dark Sides" available, but it doesn't seem so bad. Even possibly at their worst, Pink Floyd still always sounds at least pretty good to me, which strongly indicates what an outstanding artist/performer they are - my all-time personal favorite.

However, that's a major reason why I'm not necessarily a good judge of Floyd performance quality. So thus the several Floyd & Roger Waters reviews that I've contributed to this outstanding site over the months tend to provide just important basic info., a general subjective assessment/opinion of overall sound quality, etc. As for the quality of performance, as personally subjective as it can be, I tend to leave that mostly to others who are much better qualified, especially since performance quality has already been described sufficiently well in reviews of or comments about other versions available.

I would like just take a moment and thank Plomerus for a great review. Even as a Floyd collector, it isn't so much that he writes a positive review, but what I appreciate about it and many other reviews found on this site is the attention and insight also given to the historical time frame of the concert. What the reviews back then said of the show, and what the atmosphere was also like back then. It puts everything into perspective and helps preserve the sort of historical document we all have here on CD. Which is another reason why I collect and donate to this site as well! Also why I'll keep coming back.
Thanks to GS too! It's not easy doing this from work. I keep having to do stuff, DANG.
