Thanks, both classicrawker & jerrythebarman, for your helpful responses. As for that www.rollingstonesnet.com site, I was actually already familiar with some of its pages, but I can't seem to remember that Ya-Ya page in particular, so that's certainly an interesting one to explore. Thanks again.

DLee, If you have not seen it this is an interesting site where the author put a lot of time analyzing GYYYO for what shows the tracks came from and all the various overdubs done to the songs....

I don't see why it wouldn't be correct since they did record all three shows professionally, did they not ? Also, I believe at least three songs from the 1st show on the 28th soundboard have surfaced, Carol on Time Trip Vol. 4 springs to mind. Anyway, I'm assuming those credits on the official release are correct, though I guess the way to figure it out for sure would be to listen to 'Satisfaction' from both the 27th and the 28th second show audience recordings and see if either of them matches the version on the official release.

Unfortunately my ears aren't sharp enough to detect any subtleties in the difference of sound quality between the upgrades/remasters of GYYYO! on both the official boxed set (40th Anniversary) & DAC's "Broadway", but the previously "unreleased tracks" of the former sound as if they're of professional official-release quality, while the first 2 discs of "Broadway", esp. Disc 2, certainly don't. However, I still find "Broadway"'s Disc 2 quite enjoyable. In the book of the official box set, 'Under My Thumb' & 'I'm Free' are listed as being from the show on the 27th, while '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' is from the 1st show of the 28th, and 'Prodigal Son' & 'You Gotta Move' from the 2nd of the 28th. Anyone know whether or not 'Satisfaction' listed as being from the 1st show on the 28th is actually an error or not? Isn't it actually from either the 27th or the 2nd of the 28th? Thanks for any helpful replies.

In reply to your question, Genuine Masters no longer actively trade and, so far as I know, haven't done so for some years now. In their time they produced some incredible tiles - mostly Led Zeppelin - but their Stones releases that inc a remastered DVD of 'ladies & gentleman' from the RS tour of the US in '72 are worth seeking out if you can find them. Probably difficult now, but some dealers who purchased in bulk from Black Dog may still have some in stock. Alternatively some may show up on eBay.

I don't know how long ago it was released but some of the vendors I know still carry it as a 1 DVDR/2CDR set. The DVDR is just the audio in PCM quality and, if it is like the Led Zep releases, will have a still picture montage to watch while listening to the audio. I am pretty sure this is not a silver release as I believe all GM releases are DVDR/CDR media only...

Personally I would like to have seen them release at least one complete 69 MSG show which made up the official release and maybe the Baltimore show for good measure...Rumour has it the Maysles Bros shot a large amount of 69 tour video and audio for the GIMME SHELTER documentary. Supposedly the surviving brother Albert is still sitting on that gold mine. Maybe some of it will leak out someday....

Speaking of the 40th Anniversary of GYYYO I'm amazed some bright marketing guy didn't see the opportunity to include some (if not all) of one or both Oakland gigs immortalised as Liver Than You'll Ever Be. After all it's widely rumoured it was this release reviwed by Rolling Stone magazine that pushed Decca into releasing GYYYO. Still, I have my version on Genuine Masters which I personally believe to be the best ever release of this milestone boot.

Unfortunately I'm not due to acquire "Broadway" until several/few days from now, but early Fri. afternoon I did buy the 40th Anniversary boxed set of GYYYO!, and its Disc 1 runs approx. 47:40, Disc 2 approx. only 18:25, & Disc 3 approx. just 42:13. Although I'm just only starting to listen to Disc 1 at the time I'm typing this, and although the packaging appears to be quite impressive so far, they could have easily made it a 2-CD + 1-DVD set instead of a 3-CD + 1-DVD, or possibly have added considerably more material onto the audio-only CD discs. I'll try to say more later after I've had a chance to play all the discs, and perhaps have also heard "Broadway" for comparison - maybe I was looking forward to "Broadway" even more than the new official boxed set.

Got my copy this week and have to say DnG did an excellent job packaging these three titles together. The show from the 27th is indeed a VG to excellent sounding recording which does exhibit a slight overloading of the recorder at times but it is not very noticeable. The show from the 28th was a nice surprise which, while not as good as the 27th, is very listenable. It is a nice clear slightly distant recording with only the speed issues keeping it from being a VG-/VG recording. Even with the speed problems later in the show it is a good listen. The Ya Ya's Acetate disc is VG+/EX- in quality and there is no vinyl surface noise. If I was to nitpick I felt it was a little bit dull sounding with a muted high end but is has a nice warmth to it and it is great to have the acetate in such high quality...If you are a fan of the Stones 69 U.S tour this is a must have title and a nice companion to the pending 40th Anniverary release of Get Your Ya Ya's out.....

I still wish DAC, or perhaps the No Label folks, would release Atlanta '75 or Dallas '69, both of which have been torrented in upgraded form over the last year or so.
Since the orignals on many of the reissues are long out of print I am happy to have an opportunity to get some of the titles I missed the first time around and in the case of this release a well thought out package...I have this coming this week and am looking forward to finally getting a copy of the MSG show from the 27th along with a clean copy of the Ya Ya acetate. The show from the 28th is simply gravy....I agree with you 100% about the lack of good sounding tapes from my favorite, 69, Stones Tour but how is this the labels fault? they have to have product to stay alive and I am guessing there are enough buyers to make these reisssues worth putting out other wise they would not be doing this..so what do you expect them to do Lord Bud with little new material to release? Not sure I understand your issue in this case....

Till now all I've had of these shows is the official Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out so hearing the complete shows has been a 1st for me.

Till now all I’ve had of these shows is the official Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out so hearing the complete shows has been a 1st for me. The weakness of this set is disc 2 which I found heavy going for the reasons you’ve stated. Still, overall a good rather than excellent release.
