DAC sometime use different sources than VGP (and other labels) used that were from vinyl. Another release of the Leeds show may seem redundant, but much like gsparaco says in his review, some collector’s may prefer the heavier sound on the DAC release. (I only have the original Swingin’ Pig release and was thinking of upgrading). I prefer the heavier, fatter sound on DAC (and VGP) releases compared to the shrill remastering done to Stones’ shows by SODD and Godfather ; I upgraded every SODD title I had to DAC/VGP, and in every title I felt the DAC/VGP versions sounded so much better. I know sound quality is very subjective, but I think DAC have gotten a bad rap lately because of a few of their latest releases, but I think they are doing collectors a service for those who may not have these shows.

I’d gladly pick up some of these “new” DAC titles would that they weren’t so overpriced. Where’s the previously uncirculated Helsinki 1970 show?
Surely the No Name label is readying their release?

In fact, there are cuts before and after “Prodigal Son” and the sound is a bit closer to the stage than the rest of the show. It also sounds like a smaller venue, so it is more likely than not taken from another show.

I don’t have VGP-30 only the original vinyl release. Are there any noticeable edits before or after Prodigal Son ? They also don’t seem to have played it at Leeds or Coventry, the only other recordings from this tour out there, so it got me wondering….

The most recent CD release of this show was SODD’s version (which one of their better products, IMO). Halcyon’s version was very good, I agree, allthough quite similiar to “Get Your Leeds Lungs Out Revisited” from 1996.
Think I’ll pass on this DAC.
It would be nice with some comments on how the Roundhouse show compares with VGP-030, qualitywise. (that wasn’t one of VGP’s better ones – the vinyl is better)
