In this review I pointed out that Coral Records' version of the show has been stated to be the first Springsteen bootleg, an honour also claimed by Lou Cohan for his release, 'The Jersey Devil.' I am indebted to Mr Cohan for the following information regarding the origins of the first five Springsteen bootleg LPs:
"1. The first bootleg was The Jersey Devil, pressed before Bruce's Oct. 1975 Roxy gigs. Came out in S. Calif.
2. The second bootleg was There Ain't Nobody Here From Billboard Tonight (aka The Roxy), a double lp pressed right after the Oct. 1975 Roxy broadcast. Came out in S. Calif.
3. The third bootleg was The Bottom Line double lp with a black and white laminated cover, which was pressed in early December of 1975. Philly release I was told by the guy who shipped 200 of 'em to me from Levittown, Pa.
4. The Coral Records The Bottom Line with the nice color cover was the 4th Bruce bootleg and came out in mid-late December 1975. NE Jersey or NYC release I was told by the guy who shipped 100 to me (see above).
5. The 5th Springsteen bootleg was the double lp "Hot Coals From The Fiery Furnace." S. Calif. release.
After that things got crazy with Brucelegs, as you probably know.

I "did" #s 1, 2 & 5.

Though living in S. Calif. I still had many friends & relatives, including some in the record industry, in NJ, Philly, NYC, all Bruce fans, and not one of them mentioned anything about the Coral Records release until December of 1975. They knew I'd want copies, being the huge fan I was."
Both the Killing Floor Database and Chris Hunt, in "Springsteen: Blinded By the Light," contend that the Coral Records LP was released in 1976 (which might appear to be the case for something appearing so late in 1975), which supports Mr Cohan's claim that it was a later release than 'The Jersey Devil." Moreover, Hunt also states that 'The Jersey Devil' is "thought to be the very first unofficial release."

The late great WNEW had an absolute treasure trove of live Springsteen shows. There's a few that come from their broadcasts before the whole world knew about him. A few of their DJ's now work at an excellent college radio station, WFUV, but they can't play any of these shows like NEW used to whip out from time to time. Dave Herman was always a dork! And long live Scott Muni!

Hot Stuff is a CD-R label that copied their discs straight off the MainStream release. Godfather also used this same source and remastered it. All these 3 releases and obviously this release used a uncut tape that came on Dime a couple of years back from a collector who found his version of this show on cassette and decided to give it a try and post it. It's better than the original source used on Live At The Bottomline etc. etc. but suffers from the same problems as "all" tapes from this broadcast. IF the vaults of this radio station still exist...they should be plundered! :-)
