Master audience recording taped by Dan Lampinski

Sony TC-152SD Tape Recorder/Sony ECM-99 Microphone/Maxell Cassettes

Bad Company was not the type of band to “Wow” audiences with intricate melodies and technical ability but instead always delivered a good entertaining fun rock show. By 1976, they had built a nice collection of what would become timeless classics of FM radio with only three LPs under their belt.

This show from Providence was taped during the band’s tour for their third LP, Run With The Pack. Like most Lampinski recordings, the tape comes from an excellent clear audience recording with a nice balance between the instruments.

It has a nice crisp high end with only a slight muddiness in the bass and is nonetheless a real pleasure to listen to. Crowd noise is kept to a minimum and all pauses and cuts happen between songs so no music is lost. Bad Company tapes from this era are not easy to come by certainly adding to the appeal of Young Blood

The band was pushing the new material with the set containing about half of the tracks from the new LP including a silly cover of The Coasters’ “Young Blood”, which was released as a single. The band’s success was still on the rise at this point as Run With The Pack was their third consecutive platinum selling record.

But it’s no mistake that the latter half of the set is dominated by songs from their debut as many consider this to be their greatest body of work. The reactions to “Can’t Get Enough” and “Bad Company” are enough to prove that this is what they have been waiting to hear and they leave the audience shouting for more.

Boleskine House Records presents a silver pressed version of the Lampinski tape (whose recordings should all be pressed on silver, I might add) and a must have for any Bad Company collector. It comes simply packaged in a single pocket sleeve housing the two discs and is limited to 300 numbered copies. I really hope this offshoot of Tarantura continues to offer Lampinski’s tapes on silver as all too many are only available on CDR.
