Back in the day I wore out several cassette copies of “Perfect Strangers” This album was hugely popular among me and my high school friends and at all our parties. Occasionally even today I will revisit the album “For Old Time Sake”

I agree that this release sounds like it runs a little fast however definitely not enough to where I find it annoying and/or taking away from this release.

The concert itself is absolutely “SMOKIN” Gillan sounds like he was having a great time and enjoying interacting with the Japanese audience.

Thanks to the taper wherever you are for capturing this very clear, balanced source.

I’ve just listened to Highway Star. The recording seems to be out of pace (too fast). Darker Than Blue has just released the same concert. Once one has gotten it and can compare to this release, please, post a comment here.

A little caveat emptor. During Knockin… a second source is spliced in for about 15 secs or so. One thing hearing this show is how much Jon Lord’s keyboards is a big part of Purple’s sound.

Just got my copy yesterday. A very loud and clear recording. The band is definately tight and on fire.
