Two more box sets have been released in Europe today. The Beatles The Complete John Barrett Cassette Dubs (BD 3031 1/8) is a set containing 7 CDs and one DVD. According to the label, “Abbey Road engineer John Barrett’s direct cassette dubs of material found during his vault searches in 1982. Includes previously unavailable tracks and mixes as well as items featuring significant upgrades in sound quality from earlier appearances on other collections.” This is limited to five hundred numbered copies and contains a twenty page booklet.
From the same people comes Led Zeppelin, Whole Lotta Live: Live Soundboard Collection. This is a 12 CD + 1 DVD box set with the following material: Fillmore West, Sanfrancisco, April 27 1969, L’Olympia, Paris, October 10 1969, Stadthalle, Vienna, March 16 1973, Musikhalle, Hamburg, March 21 1973, Western Springs Stadium, Auckland, February 25 1972, San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego, May 28 1973, Knebworth Festival, August 11 1979 plus bonus DVD: The Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert, O2 Arena, London, December 10 2007. This also is limited to five hundred numbered copies and comes with a twenty page booklet. Although I haven’t heard this yet, I’m willing to bet the Auckland is not from the soundboard (unless Beelzebub decided to circulate his master).
