This Whitesnake title is well worth getting, folks. CD2 features the Brighton Dome show previously released on Langley as ‘The Devil In Me’, but ‘Vintage Collection 1978’ stated it came from the original master, and it shows. There is slightly more hiss, but I think this is more because the original Langley source was losing the top frequencies – certainly the cymbals can be heard on this Langley Deluxe release, and the whole thing sounds ‘brighter’. I don’t know how the sound quality of the Paris Theatre material compares to Bondage’s ‘BBC Snake’ but it sounds very good here, albeit not perhaps quite the clarity of Alkmaar, or Brighton. The interview with DC, which is track 8 of CD1, is running fast, I’d say, as he sounds more high-pitched than I remember, but it’s of interest as he confirms being approached by Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath after Purple’s split.
