Silver Shoes is another document from Wishbone Ash’s second tour of Japan. Like the other Tarantura releases, it is sourced from a previously uncirculated Mr. Peach recording and is very clear and enjoyable, capturing the atmosphere in the Nakano Sun Plaza that evening perfectly.
Touring just about the time their seventh LP New England was released and second of the year, they were becoming more “soft rock” with the addition of a keyboard player. But in concert, with the duel guitars of Andy Powell and Laurie Wisefield, they were much more of a jam band than anything else.
Most of the songs in this show push the ten minute mark with interesting improvisations.
Silver Shoes is another interesting release by Tarantura. Packaged in a gatefold cardboard sleeve, it contains photographs from the correct era. For those who collect Wishbone Ash, this is an essential and fascinating release to have.
