Very interested in the Rainbow ‘Definitive Boston 1981’. I have 3 versions of this – ‘More Coloured Rainbow’ (CD Bondage Music BON069), ‘Real Complete Boston 1981’ (2CDR Lost and Found LAF 356/537/538), and ‘Ultimate Surrender’ (2CD Power Gate-251). All are excellent sound. The Lost and Found title has the best sound, to my ears, but, being Lost and Found, it is 2CDR. ‘Ultimate Surrender’ is on silvers, but commits the cardinal sin of swapping the keyboards and guitar channels – it simply does not sound right with Mr B coming out of the left speaker/ headphone.
I am not familiar with the Hammersmith July 26th tape. The 27th is available as an incomplete soundboard (‘Outrage’ , on Darker Than Blue being the best version I have heard). The 26th does not mention it being SB, so I assume it is not. It is described as having ‘Truly perfect sound’, but I’ve been stung on that before.
