This soundtrack LP was released by United Artists on June 26, 1964 to capitalize on the popularity of the film.  Silver Apple present on silver pressed disc the MR release of both the mono and stereo.  The sound quality is excellent.  On the stereo mixes, the instrumentals appear in true stereo but the Beatles’ tunes are in fake stereo.  True stereo mixes appear on Something New, also released on Silver Apple.  This is a very important release because United Arists have never issued this soundtrack on compact disc.

This album contains the seven songs from the film: “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Tell Me Why,” “I’m Happy Just to Dance With You,” “I Should Have Known Better,” “If I Fell,” “And I Love Her,” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.” It also features “I’ll Cry Instead”, which, although written for the film, was cut from it at the last minute.  George Martin composed the four instrumentals and it is fascinating to hear The Beatles’ pop tunes rearranged for orchestra.  This is an excellent release worth having.
