That eleven pages on Steve Hoffman’s forum are devoted to a discussion about the best vinyl edition of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon (and a similar amount for the best CD) show the discussion is very important and involved.  The discussion about the best vinyl Dark Side of the Moon mentions several times that the best is the initial UK pressing, the Harvest SHVL Gramophone 804.  It’s called the “solid blue triangle” because the label on the actual vinyl disc has a solid blue triangle.

The Dark Side Of The Moon UK Original First Pressing LP “Blue Triangle” is an excellent needle drop.  The label use a virgin copy and the best transfer from the turntable imaginable.  It preserves the depth of the music and the warmth of the vinyl on CD.  As a bonus on the first disc the label include side 2 of the LP from the June 1979 MFSL pressing.

The second disc contains another pressing of the UK blue triangle pressing except the M-2 matrix number.  As a bonus, the label include “One Of These Days” from the first UK pressing of Meddle and “Atom Heart Mother” from the first UK pressing of Atom Heart Mother.  It comes packaged in a double slimline jewel case with the Dark Side motif on the front and back.  All of the material sounds great.  This would appeal to audiophiles looking for great transfers onto CD.
