Jeff Beck Group – Newport Jazz Festival 1969 (Wardour 552)

Jeff Beck Group, ‘Newport Jazz Festival 1969’ (Wardour 552)

Rod Stewart talking / I Ain’t Superstitious /  You Shook Me /  Plynth /  The Sun Is Shining /  Rock My Plimsoul /  Shapes of Things /  Jeff’s Boogie (cover says Beck’s Bolero but it’s wrong) (36:52)

Packaging – Very Nice Sound – The tape itself sounds very nice I give it an 8.5 out of 10 Sound wise this puts most Zeppelin recordings of the same era to shame. Even the recording of LZ’s set at the same festival 2 days later. If Wardour tinkered with the tape it’s not overly annoying. Performance – Two of my favorite Beck songs are on here. “I Aint Superstitious” and “Rice Pudding”. The rest is like icing on the cake, Beck and rhythm section are locked in. ….and Rod The Mod is singing his @SS off! Great value for the money and a great performance.
