More Rolling Stones from Goldplate

In celebration of the reissue of ‘Their Majesties Satanic Request’ the gold-plate label have put together the ultimate collectors set.

Using all the collectable material that Midnight Beat, Scorpio, et al brought us previously, this multi media set features all the known bits and bobs from these psychedelic sessions.

The 2 CDs from this set seem to be a composite of ‘the best of ..’ from all these sessions including the rarer recordings and acetate mixes from the era, all remastered and reconstructed for your listening pleasure.

The DVDs feature a ‘lyric video album’ – presumed to be a composite of footage from around the era with additional lyrics plus three additional videos of unknown vintage also the audio from the outtakes and none-official recordings from this album along with the acetate that sprung up a couple of years ago;

  1. I generally don’t collect DVD’s or any other video formats, and apparently I don’t even have anything that plays Blu-Ray discs, but DVD #2 runs as long as approx. 5 hours, 28 minutes…I didn’t even know that DVD’s could be that long! DVD #1 runs approx. 3 hours total, and the Blu-Ray recordable disc runs approx. just 56 minutes long. Unfortunately for me, there’s a lot of material on all 3 of these video discs that aren’t on either audio disc…I would have certainly preferred them in audio format rather than video. Overall, though, I’m rather pleased with the whole set…esp. as I didn’t have to pay that much for it.

  2. I believe the Goldplate set will only get you what you have on various other scattered releases but with the added bonus of that Blurry audio. You don’t need to splash out nominal prices for the old MB boxed sets, the old Scorpio single CD release, et al and thank goodness someone did this as – barring the 3D sleeve, the anniversary version of the official album was something I’m happy to skip over.

    • Thanks, but actuallly, much of the TSMR studio material I don’t already have, because I have only a 1CD release that I have somewhere in my collection but can’t remember much about, as I can’t even remember what particular label it’s on, but it’s a little less than 1 full disc (less than 80 minutes), and approx. the first 44 minutes are just the mono version of the official album (if I remember correctly). So this new Goldplate release should give me considerably more of the demos, outtakes, alt. versions, etc., that I very much want, despite the whole entire set being somewhat pricey…esp. considering for me the fact that I don’t even have a Blu-Ray disc player, and I don’t really collect DVD’s or videos unless they come as extras with the regular audio CD’s. Thanks.

  3. Thanks very much for this new info., but is this new boot (unofficial) version of “TSMR” supposed to be an alternative to the official 50th Anniversary reissue?

    I’ve looked up the official 50th Anniv. reissue on the ‘Net, and apparently it has 2 vinyl LP’s, 2 hybrid SACD’s, a book, & maybe some other stuff, but apparently with no bonus audio tracks/material (demos, outtakes, alt. versions, etc.) whatsoever, all for quite an expensive price of at least $50 at the very minimum, but more likely closer to $100. Really?! I haven’t collected vinyl in decades, as I don’t even have a turntable anymore & haven’t had one for many many years, so why the hell would I want the official 50th Anniv. reissue? I’m hoping that this new Goldplate boot version will give me what I want, but somebody please correct me or warn me if it actually doesn’t…Thanx
