The Dog N’ Cat label return with a new compilation just a little too late.
‘Love You Live Mixes’ (DAC 168) features the fan produced, studio mixes that first reared their heads earlier this year on titles such as Love You Live Mixes (Idol Mind), DnC must be the 4th label to grab these tracks and put them to CD, they have however chosen to furnish their CD with the rehearsals from the Warhol church estate, Montauk, dating from c. late April – May 5th, 1975. So the Montauk rehearsals therefore make their premier to silver disk but that’s the best thing you can say about these recordings as they sound truly dreadful.
Since his untimely death earlier this year, Prince’s lawyers seem to have taken their leave and while the purple one is reported to have to have walked in to a record store on at least one occasion, picked up a pile of bootlegs and proceeded to slam them on the counter and shouted at the cowering owner, ‘What the f*ck is this?’, his passing has ensured that the pressing of his concert recordings has ramped up production.
A nameless label, close to Empress Valley, has released 4 new sets in the last couple of weeks.
‘One Night Alone .. Live!’ (PR 001) is a 2 CD set featuring a recording at the Century Hall “Shiratori”, Nagoya, Japan on the 29th November 2002. As usual a mixed set list it features Prince’s version of the Led Zepp classic, ‘Whole Lotta Love’;
