Disc2. (37:02). Badge – Wonderful Tonight – Layla – Cocaine – Sunshine Of Your Love – Got My Mojo Working.

This show was originally aired live by BBC Radio 2, and has been silver pressed before on Red Hot’s “Belfast Odissey” and Mid Valley’s already reviewed “Black Beauty” and “Black Beauty Complete”.

“Belfast Master” begins with a BBC Radio2 cue followed by DJ Mark Goodier’s voice-over as the band kick things off with Let it Rain. The original live broadcast ended with Cocaine, just after the band left the stage for the encore break.  The encore was never broadcast by the BBC but “Belfast Master” presents the complete, pre-FM version of this show, and does include encores.

The BBC distributed this show through a lossy internal digital link, which means every version of this performance is taken from the same unique lossy source.

To my ears no remastering was applied to “Belfast Master”, so we get a hell of a performance in perfect digital quality.

“Belfast Master” surpasses Mid Valley’s “Black Beauty” and “Black Beauty Complete” and is the definitive silver edition to own. Absolutely recommended.

  1. The sound quality alone makes this title worth having. It is absolutely perfect. But having the show complete for the first time does make this, as Slowerhander writes, the definitive version of this show.
